Michael Gabriel - Armor
2LT Gabriel graduated from Youngstown State University with a
Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and a minor in Military Science.
He was a member of the Student - Veteran Association and the
Catholic Student Association.
He was a member of the Ranger Challenge team during his freshman,
sophomore, and junior years.
He completed the Leadership Development and Assessment Course (LDAC) at
Fort Lewis, WA in 2006.
Cadet Gabriel enlisted in the Ohio National Guard while enrolled in
Youngstown State University ROTC.
Cadet Gabriel was a member of the Scout Platoon at Headquarters
Company 1/1-45 and later served as Platoon Leader for D Company 1/1-45
Heavy Maneuver Battalion of the Ohio National Guard.
He will attend Basic Officer Leadership Course II and Armor
Officer Basic Course at Fort Knox, KY.
Cadet Gabriel will report to C Company 1/278 ACR in Milan, TN as
an Armor officer in the Tennessee National Guard.
Lowell Hilty - Corps of Engineers
2LT
Hilty
graduated from Youngstown State University with a Bachelor of
Engineering Degree in Civil Engineering and a minor in Military Science.
He
received the U.S. Army ROTC academic scholarship and the Carl Nunziato
room and board scholarship.
2LT Hillty was an active member of the Western Reserve Battalion.
He served as the Western Reserve Battalion Executive Officer
during the 2005 – 2006 school year.
2LT
Hilty
was a member of the Ranger Challenge team during his freshman,
sophomore, and junior years.
He commanded the team during his senior year.
2LT Hilty served as the team’s coach as a completion cadet from
2006 – 2007. He earned
the
Recondo Badge at the Leadership Development and Assessment Course (LDAC)
at Fort Lewis, WA in 2005. He will report to Basic Officer Leadership
Course
II on 13 January 2008 at
Fort Benning, GA and Engineer Officer Basic Course
on 5 March at Fort Leonard Wood, MO.
2LT Hilty
will report to Schofield Barracks, HI as an active duty Combat Engineer
officer on 19 June 2008.
Ryan Kelley - Signal Corps Branch Detailed
Infantry
2LT Kelley
graduated from Youngstown State University with a Bachelor of Arts and
Science Degree in Computer Science and minors in Mathematics and
Military Science. He was consistently a member of the Dean's List. He
received the U.S. Army ROTC three year academic scholarship, the
Roller-Wagner scholarship, and the Carl Nunziato room and board
scholarship. He served as the Western Reserve Battalion Training Officer
during the 2006 – 2007 school year. 2LT Kelley attended Robin Sage in
2005 and competed on the Ranger Challenge team during his junior year.
He completed the Leadership Development and Assessment Course (LDAC) at
Fort Lewis, WA in 2007. 2LT Kelley is a 2006 distinguished graduate of
the Advanced Course in Engineering Cyber Security Boot Camp in Rome,
NY. 2LT Kelley branched Signal Corps branch detailed Infantry. He will
serve as the Western Reserve Battalion Gold Bar Recruiter until April
2008. 2LT Kelley will attend Basic Officer Leadership Course II and
Infantry Officer Basic Course at Fort Benning, GA. He will report to
his first duty station as an active duty Infantry Officer at Fort Drum,
NY.
Jason Kelly - Signal Corps Branch Detailed Armor
2LT Kelly
graduated with honors from Youngstown State University with a Bachelor
of Arts Degree in Telecommunications and a minor in Military Science.
He was consistently a member of the Dean's List.
He received the U.S. Army ROTC two year academic scholarship and
the Carl
Nunziato
room and board scholarship.
He served as the Western Reserve Battalion S1 Adjutant Officer
during the 2006 – 2007 school year.
He was responsible for the planning and execution of the dining
in and joint military ball.
He completed the Leadership Development and Assessment Course (LDAC) at
Fort Lewis, WA in July 2007.
2LT Kelly took a military leave of absence from his position as a news
producer at 21 WFMJ. 2LT Kelly was the first YSU telecommunications
student to direct the university's live television show "Homework
Express" during its premiere season. He will attend Basic Officer
Leadership Course II at Fort Sill, OK and Armor Officer Basic Course at
Fort Knox, KY. 2LT
Kelly will report to his first duty station as an active duty Armor
officer on October 15, 2008 with the 2nd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division
at Fort Carson, CO.
