SIDS

Students in Dietetics (SIDS) is a student organization at Youngstown State University dedicated to enhancing food and nutrition knowledge.  We participate in philanthropic activities, raise funds for our annual trip to the Ohio Dietetic Association Conference, share new information from the American Dietetic Association, and support each other as we earn our perspective degrees.

We have sponsored Angel Tree projects around the holidays, Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley canned goods collections, nutrition information tables at YSU’s Health Fair, and National Nutrition Month awareness.  Current projects include collaborating with the Mahoning Valley Dietetics Association to raise funds for the American Heart Association, contacting and interviewing YSU Food and Nutrition alumni, providing members with opportunities to participate in faculty-sponsored research, supporting local organizations in furthering nutrition knowledge on Make A Difference Day, and forming a team for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.

Meeting times posted on the SIDS bulletin board are scheduled to benefit most members, and usually last no longer than one hour every few weeks.  One-time dues help to raise funds for our activities.  Please pick up an application for SIDS in the Human Ecology Office, check out the SIDS bulletin board in the Human Ecology Department, talk to an officer, or stop by for a meeting.  We look forward to expanding our organization!
