KON MISSION: The mission of Kappa Omicron Nu Honor Society is to empower leaders through scholarship, research and leadership development.

ELIGIBILITY FOR MEMBERSHIP:
  • Undergraduate: completion of ? 45 semester hours, GPA > 3.0, in top 25% of class.
  • Graduate: completion of ? 12 semester hours, GPA > 3.5.
  • Professionals: must possess one of more degrees in the field or one of its specializations or one or more degrees outside the field, works in the field and has made a distinctive contribution to the field.
FEES

Initiation Fee: 2005-2006 = $50.00
National Dues for Active Members: 2005-2006 = $50.00
Chapter Dues: $5.00

HISTORY

Kappa Omicron Nu (KON) was established in 1990 when its two founding organizations, Kappa Omicron Phi (founded 1922) and Omicron Nu (founded 1912), merged. KON advocates scholarship, research and leadership and promotes dialogue, collaboration and networking within the scholarly community encompassing the Family and Consumer Sciences fields. Nu Xi, the Youngstown State University Chapter of KON was established in 2004 when 6 faculty and 15 student members were initiated.
