Celebrating Excellence is an event that has been held every spring for more than 25 years. It is sponsored by the Department of Human Ecology for the purpose of honoring graduating seniors and students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in scholarship, leadership, and/or service.  Students who have been named to the Dean’s list and those who are members of the Department Panel of Scholars receive congratulations for these achievements.  Officers of the student organizations are recognized for their leadership contributions and for the many service projects sponsored by their organizations.
 
 Faculty members are also congratulated for their achievements and contributions to the department, college, and university. For the past several years an individual from outside the department has been elected by the faculty to receive the Human Ecology Fabulous Friend Award. This award was established to give special recognition to one who has consistently made an outstanding commitment to the Department of Human Ecology.

This year Celebrating Excellence is scheduled to take place on Sunday afternoon, April 29th . At that time family and friends will join students, faculty, and our Fabulous Friend in the Stadium Club at YSU for this annual event.

Jessica Plutt - Graduating senior in Merchandising: Fashion and Interiors was awarded the Outstanding Student in Human Ecology awards. Jessica maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA throughout her YSU career. A University Scholar, Jessica annually led a joint community service project, "Hats for the Homeless." University Scholars cut, and Students in Fashion and Interiors sewed many hats each November. The completed hats were donated to local charities that serve the needs of homeless individuals and families in the Mahoning Valley. Congratulations Jessie!!!
